Patterson Unit Transferred

The WSAS were advised at our December Committee meeting that following a technical and diagnostic review the sleep unit previously based at the Patterson Unit in the Royal Gwent Hospital Newport, will be transferred to the Chest Unit located at St Woolos.
The assets of the Patterson Unit (mostly funded by the WSAS) will be transferred to St Woolos. Overnight sleep studies will be discontinued and if required undertaken at Nevill Hall

The same teams and excellent treatment continues at the Chest Clinic under the leadership of Respiratory Consultant Dr Melissa Hack and Sleep Specialist Nurse Sister Jeanette Richards.

Wanted WSAS Ambassadors

The WelshSAS is looking to expand and is asking for volunteer ambassadors to liaise and promote the society in other Welsh health areas. i.e. Swansea, Cardiff, mid  west and north Wales.

WelshSAS AGM 2016

2016 AGM has been set for the 17th September at 1100 hrs – venue The Postgraduate Centre Friars Walk (off Belle Vue Lane) Newport. Light Refreshments will be available so why not come along and discuss with fellow patients and experts alike.This is an excellent and interesting event – it’s your Society and it’s only successful if you support us in the months and even years ahead.

The formal brief will take up the first half of the event followed by an opportunity to visit the trade stands.

The second part of the day will comprise of a series of interesting presentation starting with one from Mr Rhys Jeffries, Clinical Physiologist of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, followed by short presentation s from Phil Paice Phillips Resprionics, Louis Tasker of Fisher Paykel and Hannah Forrest of Resmed, culminating with a question and answer session with our President Dr Melissa Hack and Sister Jeanette Richards Sleep Specialist Nurse
