The WSAS were advised at our December Committee meeting that following a technical and diagnostic review the sleep unit previously based at the Patterson Unit in the Royal Gwent Hospital Newport, will be transferred to the Chest Unit located at St Woolos.
The assets of the Patterson Unit (mostly funded by the WSAS) will be transferred to St Woolos. Overnight sleep studies will be discontinued and if required undertaken at Nevill Hall
The same teams and excellent treatment continues at the Chest Clinic under the leadership of Respiratory Consultant Dr Melissa Hack and Sleep Specialist Nurse Sister Jeanette Richards.
The WelshSAS is looking to expand and is asking for volunteer ambassadors to liaise and promote the society in other Welsh health areas. i.e. Swansea, Cardiff, mid west and north Wales.
